OPC UA-Module Type Package - The GEA Approach to Digitization

At SMM, Sven Mario Jadzinski explains the challenges and opportunities of the digitalization and smart connectivity for the marine industry. Therefore, GEA introduced the present achievements by the MTP (Module Type Package) working group for the marine industry. The new GEA marine separators can follow a "plug and produce" approach by using state-of-the-art technology utilizing the GEA IO touch panel control and a simplified connection to a SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).

We met Dalibor Sandor at SMM in Hamburg who introduced the GEA semi-hermetic and open type compressors for the marine industry. In combination with the efficient GEA pre- and aftersales, the durable GEA piston compressors are the first choice on board all vessels.

GEA CO2 Transcritical Technology - the environmentally friendly cooling system

At SMM in Hamburg, Marc Prinsen presents the new GEA CO2 Transcritical Technology. This environmentally friendly cooling system does not use the currently known expensive chemical cooling liquids, which will be phased out in due time, but instead the cheaper natural CO2. Furthermore, the system adds the possibilities to add heat recovery processes, e.g. for the GEA marine Separators, to increase energy efficiency on board.

GEA launches the BallastMaster marineX

At SMM in Hamburg, GEA launched the BallastMaster marineX. Andrew J. Daley presented the solution for highly efficient mechanical and physical treatment for different vessels’ ballast water. The 2-stage system combines mechanical filtration with UV-C light treatment and thereby ensures disinfection. Combining these two treatment technologies in one unit, reduces the space requirement resulting in a compact and efficient ballast water solution.

New GEA marine Separator

At the first day of SMM in Hamburg, we met with Karel Wauters who explained the benefits of the new GEA marine Separator. With newly introduced direct drive concept, maintenance intervals and energy efficiency increased. Furthermore, the installation and maintenance processes got simplified. In combination with the new EffiClean unit, time spent on cleaning the separators is reduced by up to 95 % compared to manual cleaning. Thereby, the GEA customers can save both maintenance and energy costs.

GEA presents Marine Solutions at SMM 2016

At SMM 2016 exhibition in Hamburg, GEA focused on environmentally-friendly techniques, as for example treatment of bilge and ballast water or oil and oil sludge treatment. We present solutions for processing of fuel and lube oil and components for air conditioning, cooling and refrigeration technology.
