NEW models: GEA Red Heat Pumps

GEA Red heat pumps (GEA RedGenium and GEA RedAstrum) are
now available with an ammonia cascade evaporator. This heat exchanger uses
waste heat from any chiller process with ammonia, working simultaneously as the
condenser for the chiller and the evaporator for the heat pump. The Red heat
pump “cascade” version is perfect for all applications in which the heat pump
is added to an existing chiller. Compared with conventional systems, our
“cascade” solution improves the efficiency by over 10 %. GEA Red heat pumps
provide supply temperatures up to +80 °C (GEA RedAstrum) and +70 °C
(RedGenium), heating capacities up to 2,900 kW and are suited wherever process
or district heating is required. The GEA RedAstrum series has recently been
extended by three more (screw compressor) sizes, almost doubling the available
capacity range for our customers.

The GEA Blu-Red Fusion is particularly suited for combined cooling/refrigeration and heating demands at low heat source temperature levels and high temperature lifts between heat source and heat sink. The intermediate stage is equipped with one single, efficient ammonia-ammonia “cascade” heat exchanger. Not only does the design drastically reduce the equipment offer, it also makes an intermediate liquid cycle redundant which reduces the differential pressure of both stages and does not waste more Kilowatts on glycol or water pumps. The efficiency plus easily reaches double digit numbers. This means a dramatic reduction of energy costs and CO2 emissions.

NEW speed limit: Our Grasso LT – R/S/T screw
compressor models have received some minor tweaks that lead to a major impact.
The original compressor received an upgrade and runs at an impressive 4.500
rpm, instead of its original 3.600 rpm, resulting in 25 % more capacity and
decreased power consumption. These small tweaks make the new Grasso LT series
overall more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Wolf ButterBack – GEA CompaX / GEA BluQ proves its worth in field test

Wolf ButterBack is a specialist in Danish pastries, which the company produces for bakeries. The bakeries receive the pastries frozen and ready-to-bake in-house to sell to their customers. In 2018 Wolf ButterBack wished to expand its capacity to accommodate business growth. As part of this expansion the company installed the GEA BluQ chiller with the semi-hermetic NH3 compressor GEA CompaX in a system of several chillers to provide cooling power for its spiral freezer and deep-freeze rooms. After 16,000 operating hours the unit has successfully proven its worth in field tests. Let’s go and visit Wolf ButterBack!
